When and how do I pay for camp?

Accepted Answer

For week-long camps (and Squirt) an $80 deposit is required to lock in your spot.

If you've applied a partial discount code, that code does not cover your deposit. Your deposit is still required to lock in your spot.

Payment can be made by cash, cheque, or e-Transfer﻿ to klbcoffice@kenosee.ca (please include the camper name in the memo) We do not accept credit card payments at any point.

The rest of your fees are due on drop-off day.

Question 2

What is your refund policy?

Accepted Answer

Once a camper's final confirmation has been sent, the $80 pre-registration fee becomes non-refundable. Following opening day of their camp week all fees become non-refundable.
In the event we are required to cancel a week of camp a 100% refund will be issued to all campers.

Question 3

What should my child bring to camp?

Accepted Answer

Items to pack include:
Sleeping bag and pillow
Bible, pen, and notebook
Shoes and flashlight for wide games
Raincoat and boots
Warm clothes
Bug spray and sunscreen
Swimsuit and towel
Optional: semi-formal clothing for a dress up meal
 
Please do not bring:
Cell phone
Personal electronic devices (tablet, ipod, etc.)
Alcohol, cigarettes, non-medicinal drugs or a lighter
Weapons of any kind
Extra money or valuable you don't want lost or damaged
 
Please avoid bringing any sunscreen/food/cosmetics that may contain nut products, coconut, or cocoa butter. KLBC is not guaranteed nut free. We do our best, but if your child has severe allergies, please send appropriate snacks for the times when they can’t eat the food served. Please put your name on your belongings-it's always a good idea to check the lost and found pile before you leave at the end of camp!

Question 4

Can I change my camper's skills?

Accepted Answer

After registering, you can view and change your camper's skills by logging into your Kamper account (link in your confirmation email or go to teamkamper.com/kenosee-lake-bible-camp)
In the Camps section click More for the week you'd like to adjust and then view or change skills.

Note: If you are signed up for any skills that have additional fees (like paintball, climbing, or motor boat related skills), you'll need to email our office (klbcoffice@kenosee.ca) with your requested changes (even if those changes don't involved skills with fees) and we'll make the adjustments for you. 
Similarly, if you'd like to add a skill that has a fee, you'll need to email our office.

Question 5

Will supper be served for my child on registration day? What time is drop off/pick up?

Accepted Answer

Registration begins at 5:00 pm, and once that's all done the first thing we do is serve supper. On the last day of camp we have a closing service at 3:00 pm which parents are encouraged to come for, and then everyone is welcome to stay for a free snack.
 
Squirt camp registration is at 2:00 pm on the Tuesday. Closing is at 3:00 pm on Friday as usual, with a closing program and free snack.
 
Pre-Squirt Day Camp runs from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. Parents can join us for supper.
 
Pre-Squirt Overnight Camp starts at 10:00 am and ends with snack at 3:00 pm the second day.

Question 6

Can I visit my child during their week at camp? What if they're homesick?

Accepted Answer

Camp is a busy place, so we prefer that parents don't visit during the week unless absolutely necessary. Campers are kept busy having a ton of fun, and often a visiting parent sparks homesickness and interrupts the routine of camp. On closing day you're more than welcome to come for our closing chapel and stay for snack to talk to the cabin leaders about all the fun that's been had that week.
If you do need to drop by camp during the week, please call us ahead of time and check in at the camp office upon arrival.
 
At KLBC we do our best to ensure each camper loves their camp experience. Often homesickness is a result of being tired at the end of the day, or not enjoying a specific aspect of camp. We work hard to figure out the root of the homesickness and deal with that problem directly, whether that be through a visit to the camp first aid person, talking to a child about the exciting activities coming up, or distracting them from home in some other way. However, sometimes it is necessary to get the parent involved, in which case we will call you. Often having a camper talk to their parent just makes the homesickness worse, but we will work together with you to figure out the best options for your child. Ultimately, camp is for the camper and we want each child to enjoy their time here, so we will strive to provide the greatest level of care possible.

Question 7

How many kids are in a cabin? Do the cabins have bathrooms?

Accepted Answer

Most cabins have around 8-12 campers, with a Senior Cabin Leader and a Jr Cabin Leader to keep the order and help the campers have the best week possible. Bathrooms are not directly inside the cabins, but there are separate bathroom buildings on the guys’ side and girls’ side of camp, as well as bathrooms/shower rooms in the pool building at the center of camp.

Question 8

Is swimming in the lake or do you have a pool? Will my child have a chance to go swimming if they don't sign up for it?

Accepted Answer

We have a swimming pool where Rec Swimming typically takes place, though sometimes campers and cabin leaders choose to swim in the lake instead, which is totally fine. And with our floating dock and beach, who can blame them?
 
As for those who don't sign up for Rec Swimming, each day cabins choose an activity to do together as a cabin, and swimming is a very popular choice.
